Just wanted to say thank you for organizing such a great race this year. Our team was very challenged and felt good about finishing the race.

Thank you for a great race, and for bringing Race the Rockies back this year. You all did an excellent job, and stepped it up a notch!
Some of my thoughts:
The Columbia River valley is not only a beautiful spot to paddle, it also provides a great route for those who want to test how fast they can race it.
RTR is getting a reputation for treks along big ridges with killer views, and this year continued to deliver! The trek was huge, it was great! And there were some nice bushwacking options in there, if you wanted to go for them (it adds to the adventure feel of it all - who doesn't love crashing through the bush like a kid?!).
The biking... Oh don't get me started about the biking! I can't remember having this much great riding in an adventure race! Aren't adventure races supposed to be long slogs of endless logging/fire roads?.... ;-) The route down Kicking Horse Resort was great, the singletrack trails on the advanced section were a real highlight, and after that, the bit of inevitable gravel road was actually a welcome relief from the more technical stuff. I'm not used to doing so much technical riding in an adventure race! Those singletrack trails are worth a trip back to Golden, and I've gotta try that downhill run again on a downhill bike!
The ropes section was massive! Even though you didn't get to scare the hell out of us with the flying fox you were hoping for, the traverse of that huge canyon was enough to make you question what you were doing and how much you trusted your harness and carabiner... there were moments of telling yourself not to think about it, and just keep moving. The view from the middle of the rope during the inevitable rest stops on the traverse was mind-blowing!
And the unsupported format was great! Not having to hunt down a support team made it easier. The volunteers did an amazing job of having everything in place, and even hauling boats back up to the resort and shuttling racers back to their vehicles. Nicely planned. I'm now a big fan of this format.
I can't wait to see what happens with all of the media coverage - it seems like there were cameras in so many places. I see that there are already some photos up on the RTR website - hopefully there are even more to come!
Well done to everyone that competed or helped out!

Thanks for everything that you and the volunteers did this weekend.
It was a great course and being our first race we learned a lot from it. (note to self- put backpack in dry bag next time)
Great scenery, good food and fun people!

I want to let you know what I think about the events that you put on. I have raced in many different races over the years and without a doubt, the races that you put on are by far outdoing any other event when it comes to organization, safety, fun factor on the course, as well as logistics. You make sure that any level racer can race in your event as safely as something can be done in the wilderness that we play in: marked routes, options around potentially technical sections (such as trail riding), options to not have to expose your self at all to particular sections (such as Tyrolean traverses, white water swim etc), regular and advanced sections, as well as thorough planned TA’s offering care and support for racers (such as the need to warm up after a cold swim). These are all indications of a very well planned and run event and no matter what caused this past weekend’s event, I would not change a thing! You are Canada’s leading race organizer and we all look forward to and love your race.
Team Wild Rose had a fantastic time racing this past weekend. The trek was phenomenal with hard work and beautiful views. On top of that the bike ride down the mountain was by far the best bike ride in an adventure race. Very awesome!

I was introduced to this wonderful adventure by Debbie Harksen and had supported her on a Sea to Summit race and just this past year at Nordegg. Mentally I wanted to be out on that race course but physically knew I didn't have it in me. So, this urban-style race was perfect as it allowed a taste of what to expect - it was long enough to feel I worked for it and it was short enough that I could see what I was experiencing before it got too dark. Our team initially talked about not getting wet, but when we got to the shoreline we took the plunge to make sure we got the full experience. There was not one moment I was disappointed in , even having to haul 60 lbs of potatoes and one very awkward canoe at the very end. The bonus was also seeing all the hardcore adventure racers volunteering at each of the stations. The seasoned veterans helping all the adventure race "virgins".... Thank you for a well organized and fun event. As Debbie always says " Just Move" and we did!!!
