Thanks to Mike and everyone who supported. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Thank you for a great race, and for bringing Race the Rockies back this year. You all did an excellent job, and stepped it up a notch!
Some of my thoughts:
The Columbia River valley is not only a beautiful spot to paddle, it also provides a great route for those who want to test how fast they can race it.
RTR is getting a reputation for treks along big ridges with killer views, and this year continued to deliver! The trek was huge, it was great! And there were some nice bushwacking options in there, if you wanted to go for them (it adds to the adventure feel of it all - who doesn't love crashing through the bush like a kid?!).
The biking... Oh don't get me started about the biking! I can't remember having this much great riding in an adventure race! Aren't adventure races supposed to be long slogs of endless logging/fire roads?.... ;-) The route down Kicking Horse Resort was great, the singletrack trails on the advanced section were a real highlight, and after that, the bit of inevitable gravel road was actually a welcome relief from the more technical stuff. I'm not used to doing so much technical riding in an adventure race! Those singletrack trails are worth a trip back to Golden, and I've gotta try that downhill run again on a downhill bike!
The ropes section was massive! Even though you didn't get to scare the hell out of us with the flying fox you were hoping for, the traverse of that huge canyon was enough to make you question what you were doing and how much you trusted your harness and carabiner... there were moments of telling yourself not to think about it, and just keep moving. The view from the middle of the rope during the inevitable rest stops on the traverse was mind-blowing!
And the unsupported format was great! Not having to hunt down a support team made it easier. The volunteers did an amazing job of having everything in place, and even hauling boats back up to the resort and shuttling racers back to their vehicles. Nicely planned. I'm now a big fan of this format.
I can't wait to see what happens with all of the media coverage - it seems like there were cameras in so many places. I see that there are already some photos up on the RTR website - hopefully there are even more to come!
Well done to everyone that competed or helped out!

I wouldn't classify myself as an experienced racer at this point, but I have been to quite a few over the past couple of years, and I can say that this was the best race I've been to so far. The course itself had a perfect mix of disciplines, challenges, and scenery. I made sure that I had the chance to experience the zipline - when you're hanging over a 300m chasm for 15 minutes, you sure get a new appreciation for life. OK, I also have to admit, the opening scene from 'Cliffhanger' went through my mind a few times. My only disappointment with the race is that I wasn't able to compete in the full course (I missed the cut-off by 8 minutes - oh well). I could go on about how great the course was, but I want to focus on some of the activities planned before and after the event. For me, racing is a little like being a kid at Christmas. The race itself is the giant pile of gifts, but equally important is the lead up to the race and events during/after with a great group of people. In this regard, Race the Rockies exceeded my expectations.
Congratulations on the great race!

We had a great time at the race...the trek was a killer but the views made it amazing! Next year we may not bring play boats for the paddle but hey who doesn't need more of a challenge with the slowest boats in a race.
Thanks again...one of the most organized events that I have ever been to...loved the completely unsupported format!

Olaf from "Damage Control" writing to you. I was sorry that I couldn't stick around yesterday for the party, we had some other family commitments that meant I had to take off early. I had a great day and I am not even too sore this morning!
